Environmental management
The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences participates in Kiel University’s professional environmental management EMAS (Eco-Management and Audit Scheme). Its goal is to save water and other sources of energy, to combat climate change, to reduce the amount of waste and to strengthen bio-diversity by re-exposing earth that has been buried under concrete.
In 2011, the workig committee Environmental Management (in German) was established at Kiel University. All environmentally relevant concerns of staff and students are discussed here. Furthermore, an Environmental Officer advises academic leaders with regard to environmental protection at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences. He is involved in faculty inspections and reports to the working committee.
